Trump's Business Sought to Hire Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

The former president’s family business accelerated its hiring of overseas employees on short-term work permits this year, even as his government was creating barriers for other companies wanting to do the identical, an analysis published recently claimed.

Based on data from the federal labor department, the business aimed to hire at least nearly 200 overseas employees in 2025 for temporary positions at the US president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.

The number of requests for temporary work visas for workers including servers, clerks, cleaning staff, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the record filed by the company, and up from over 120 in 2021, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that the former president had sought to hire over a hundred overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, according to available data.

The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has involved the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the Trump Organization aimed to employ 566 foreign laborers over the period the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, the former president was questioned by some in the GOP this period for remarks defending the necessity for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill particular roles.

“You cannot just say a nation is coming in, going to spend $10bn to construct a facility, and going to take people off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It isn’t feasible that well,” he told a interviewer after it was implied that foreign workers lower the wages of American employees.

The White House declined a request for comment, and the business did not immediately respond to an request for information.
