A woman accused with harassing Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a phone message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who a jury heard has repeatedly declared she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges indicted with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and data obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test during that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and continues to be unresolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another phone message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "What if there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Is that not significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the message continued.

The tribunal was advised that by means of emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a bid to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a childhood with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with law enforcement who gathered the information, informed the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with close associates of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On that date, Mr McCann picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I won't give up and I intend to demonstrate my claim."

The court learned the co-defendant struck up a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt before assisting her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in the county in last December.

Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had communicated through messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the time leading up to the visit to the village, the county, in December 2024.

The court was told message exchanges between the two defendants, in November 2024, planning trying to acquire Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from cutlery at a eating establishment.

"We have to take action," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the appearance to their residence, Mrs Spragg sent a communication which expressed: "We find ourselves positioned adjacent to the McCanns' home with our lights out similar to investigators. I wanted to do this with Peter Andrew I didn't imagine I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
