Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
